How to Switch Electric Suppliers
You can take control of your electric supply costs by comparing rates and choosing a supplier that offers a lower one.
Want to Switch? Follow the three S's
Switching suppliers is easy.
Make the switch
- Large commercial and industrial customers can visit the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority website.
- Small and medium customers can visit the Energize CT Supplier Rate Finder and follow the below steps.
- Select “Eversource Business” then “Search & Compare Rates.”
- Select your rate class in "Plan Type."
- Compare available rates. Eversource’s current Standard Service rate will appear first, followed by supplier rates listed from lowest to highest.
- Before signing up, it’s important to carefully read over the contract and know what the early termination fees are.
Start Saving
Your enrollment will take effect after your next scheduled meter reading. You will see the savings on the bill after that.
Make the switch now to be prepared for the winter heating months and likely higher energy costs.
Set reminders and know your terms
Mark down on your calendar when your contract ends and how much you’re paying.
When your contract ends, most supplier contracts automatically renew at a rate different than what you sign up for. If you do not cancel your contract or find a new supplier before that renewal, you will be charged the new rate, which may be higher.
Setting multiple calendar reminders will let you know to compare rates before the contract end date.
You can return to standard service
Whether you choose us or a third-party supplier, we will deliver your power, read your meter, care for the poles and wires, provide customer service, and restore power if there is a service interruption.
You can return to Eversource Standard Service as your supply option by managing your account online. If you don't have an online account, you can call us.
Stay Safe
We don't call or solicit door-to-door on behalf of any competitive energy supplier, you should always decline any door-to-door offers.
You have the option of blocking your account from unauthorized switching to a third-party supplier from Standard Service. You can always contact us to add this protection to your account or double check the legitimacy of any offer.
