Celebrating Two Decades of the Electric Power Utility Technology Program: A Commitment to Workforce Excellence

BOSTON, Mass. (Oct. 7, 2024) - Eversource, in collaboration with Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC), the Local 369 Utility Workers Union of America, and the Local 12004 United Steel Workers Union, is proud to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Electric Power Utility Technology (EPUT) Program. Since its inception, this innovative program has provided valuable academic and hands-on training opportunities for aspiring utility workers in the Boston area, equipping more than two decades of students with the skills necessary for successful careers in the energy sector.

“We are thrilled to celebrate 20 years of the Electric Power Utility Technology Program, a testament to the enduring partnership between Eversource, Bunker Hill Community College, and our union partners,” said Eversource Training Director Alexandria Chasson-Colebourn. “This program has not only prepared a substantial number of skilled professionals for rewarding careers at Eversource but has also strengthened our community and contributed to the safe and reliable delivery of energy across the region.”

The EPUT program is a comprehensive, accredited Associate of Science degree initiative that blends classroom instruction with real-world experience, setting a solid foundation for participants to thrive in various utility-related roles. Its commitment to excellence is further reflected in the requirement for students to maintain grades of C or better in all courses, ensuring a high standard of education and preparedness for future employment.

Over the past two decades, the EPUT program has become a cornerstone of workforce development in the Boston area, reflecting Eversource’s commitment to investing in local talent and fostering economic growth. As the program continues to evolve, it remains committed to equipping students with the essential knowledge, skills, and opportunities for success in the ever-changing energy landscape, with an impressive 95% of its 255 graduates having secured employment with Eversource.
