Pi-lit Smart Sequential Road Flares

Our line trucks and initial assessment and smaller repair vehicles in New Hampshire will now be equipped with pi-lit smart sequential road flares. We are currently piloting these devices across our other service areas.

The devices look like square hockey pucks and emit signals to communicate with social driving apps like Google Maps and Waze. Similar to other hazards or road conditions, the apps alert drivers and warn them about a work zone ahead.

As drivers pass, they see a sequentially lit string of flares much like a runway landing strip that guides traffic around the incident or work zone.

Adding a layer of safety

Our line crews frequently respond to trees, poles or wires down along the roadway, often in challenging weather conditions. This is another tool to make work zones safer.

The devices are simple to use and can be set up in different configurations. They can be placed inside or on top of cones, guiding traffic around the incident or work zone.
