Plainfield-Blandford Area DER Projects

Distributed energy resource (DER) projects help support Massachusetts’ clean energy goal of being carbon neutral by 2050.

Extensive system planning studies identified six project regions where electric system upgrades are needed to support the interconnection of DER technologies such as solar panels, wind turbines, natural gas and fuel cells.

The Plainfield-Blandford area was chosen as one of these regions.

If projects for all six regions are approved, that would enable the integration of approximately 1 gigawatt (GW) of solar energy needed to help Massachusetts achieve its net-zero carbon emissions goal by 2050. Learn more about the projects in other regions.
